Main Patch Map Switch

Map switching for Simos 18: two to five map slots, selected from the cruise control stalk or the Start/Stop button. Each slot carries its own boost limits, spark offset and torque request maps, and switches Launch Control, Rolling Anti Lag, pops & bangs, ethanol blending and OEM Sport Mode on or off.

Map switching

Number of map slots (2..5) sets how many slots the switcher cycles through — anywhere from two to five. Slots beyond this count are ignored.
Selecting a slot
Hold the button assigned to Mapswitch — CANCEL by default — for Hold duration to arm to enter map selection. While it is held, the rev counter shows the slot being chosen. UP, DOWN and SET always navigate and confirm.
Selection window — once no further press arrives for this long after the last one, the displayed slot is committed. It applies to both the stalk and the Start/Stop selection path.
Show active map index after start — sweeps the rev counter to the active slot number for this many seconds after the engine starts, so the driver can see which map is loaded. 0 turns it off. Not available on SC8H65.
Shared axes
Three sets of breakpoints are shared by every slot rather than set per slot: Boost map: rpm breakpoints, Spark offset: rpm breakpoints and Spark offset: load breakpoints (mg/stk). Set these once, before filling in the slots.

Button assignment

The cruise control buttons and the Start/Stop button can be pointed at different functions.
CANCEL button — None, Mapswitch or RAL. Default: Mapswitch.

RESUME button — None, Mapswitch or RAL. Default: RAL.

Start/Stop button — None keeps its stock function; Mapswitch cycle makes each press step to the next map slot. Default: None.

Start/Stop button lamp driven by patch — lets the patch drive the Start/Stop lamp to acknowledge map-switch input. Off leaves the lamp under OEM control. Default: Off.

What each map slot holds

Every slot carries the same 13 parameters, so each one is a complete configuration rather than an offset from a base map.
Boost limit by gear — a ceiling on the boost setpoint by rpm and gear, in absolute hPa. It caps the OEM boost request and never raises it, so lowering a cell limits boost there. Leave it at full scale to impose no limit.

Spark offset — an ignition trim by rpm and load, added on top of the OEM timing rather than replacing it. Positive advances, negative retards, 0 is no change; the result is saturated to safe limits.
Feature switches
Launch Control — arms Launch Control in this slot.

RAL — arms Rolling Anti Lag in this slot. When off, RAL never engages here regardless of the trigger.

Ethanol blending — applies the Flex Fuel adders in this slot. Off means the slot ignores ethanol content entirely.

Pops & bangs — enables overrun crackle by switching on the OEM overrun impulse combustion. Off keeps stock overrun behaviour.

OEM Sport Mode (TC off) — forces the OEM ESC Sport flag, as if the ESC button had been short-pressed: traction control off, stability control retained.
Torque request maps
The OEM maximum driver torque request tables the ECU selects while the slot is active — the headline power map the slot switches between:

Torque Request AT Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 — automatic transmission
Torque Request MT Type 1 and Type 2 — manual transmission
Torque Request ECO — the eco table
Fill in the maps that match the car in front of you. An automatic car never reads the MT maps, and a manual never reads the AT ones.

Launch Control

Launch Control holds engine speed on the line with ignition retard and a torque ceiling. It is armed per map slot with the slot's Launch Control switch. Build revs with the brake held (automatic) or the clutch in (manual) and the throttle floored.
Max rpm — the engine speed the limiter holds. Retard bites at this rpm so revs settle there. 0 turns launch off.

Max retard — the maximum ignition retard used to hold that rpm. More retard holds revs harder.

Max torque — a torque request ceiling while launching. The request is drawn down to this and never raised. 0 means no torque limit, retard only.

Ramp in — fade-in time for the retard and the torque ceiling as the limiter engages. There is no ramp-out: both are released instantly when the hold ends. 0 is instant.

Max duration after launch — after the brake or clutch is released, keeps the retard and torque ceiling for up to this long as a traction hold, then releases to full power. 0 releases immediately.

Minimum oil temperature and Minimum coolant temperature — launch will not arm on a colder engine.

Flex Fuel

Flex Fuel adds spark, lambda and torque adjustments that scale with ethanol content. It is applied per map slot with the slot's Ethanol blending switch.
Ethanol sourceSensor uses the live fuel-ethanol reading; Manual uses the fixed value below, for cars without a flex sensor.

Manual ethanol content — the fixed ethanol content in % used when the source is Manual. 0 % is gasoline, 85 % is E85.

Neither is available on SC8H65.
Adder maps
Three maps by rpm and load, each describing the change at full ethanol:

Spark offset — ignition change in degrees. Positive advances.
Lambda offset — mixture change. Negative is richer, positive leaner.
Torque offset — driver torque request change in Nm.
Scaling curves
Spark scaling, Lambda scaling and Torque scaling set how much of each adder map is applied against ethanol content, in %. 100 % applies the full map value, 0 % applies nothing — so each adjustment can fade in on its own, for example 0 % on gasoline ramping up towards E85.
Axes
The Rpm axis and Load axis are shared by all three adder maps. The Ethanol axis holds the ethanol breakpoints for the three scaling curves.

Blink MIL on knock

The check-engine lamp can flash when the ECU pulls ignition for knock, which makes knock visible from the driver's seat without a laptop connected.
Flash MIL on knock — turns the feature on. Off means the lamp is never driven for knock.

Knock threshold, mean retard — blinks when the averaged knock retard across cylinders reaches this much retard. 0 disables this trigger.

Knock threshold, per-cylinder retard — blinks when any single cylinder's knock retard reaches this much retard. 0 disables this trigger.

Blink hold time after knock — how long the lamp keeps blinking after the last event that crossed a threshold, so brief events stay visible.

Blink half-period — half the blink cycle in ms; smaller flashes faster. 0 uses the default of 250 ms.
Both thresholds are retard values, so they are negative — more negative only warns on heavier knock. The mean threshold catches a trend across the engine, the per-cylinder threshold catches one cylinder on its own. Either can be left at 0 if you only want the other.

Rolling Anti Lag (RAL)

RAL keeps the turbo spooled while rolling, using fuel cut, ignition retard and a richer mixture, so boost is already up when you go back to full throttle. It is armed per map slot with the slot's RAL switch.
Trigger
Trigger: CC-Resume hold time to engage — how long the RESUME lever has to be held before RAL engages, so a normal cruise-resume tap does not trigger it. 0 uses 500 ms. RAL stays active for as long as the lever is held.
Engage conditions
These are checked only at the moment RAL engages, not while it is already active:

Minimum rpm and Maximum rpm — the engine speed window RAL will engage in
Maximum acceleration — longitudinal acceleration must be within ± this of zero, so the car is rolling steadily rather than under hard acceleration or braking. 0 disables the gate.
Minimum oil temperature and Minimum coolant temperature
Maximum active time — a safety cap per hold. On timeout RAL disengages and will not re-engage until the lever is released and pulled again.
Fuel cut
Three bands, each an rpm offset from the engine speed captured when RAL engaged. The cut gets heavier with each band:

Soft cut band — the light cut pattern starts above this
Medium cut band — a heavier pattern; set it above the soft band
Hard cut band — the heaviest pattern, which acts as the RAL rev ceiling; set it above the medium band
A negative offset places a band below the captured rpm. Rpm filter strength smooths the rpm the bands are compared against, to steady the cut near a band edge — 0 is no filtering, 7 the most.
Retard and mixture
Ignition retard vs EGT — the retard applied while RAL is active, as a curve against measured exhaust gas temperature. It backs the retard off as EGT climbs, to protect the exhaust and turbine.

Lambda target — the mixture commanded while RAL is active. Lower is richer; 0.80 is about 20 % rich and the default. 0 turns the lambda override off, while retard and fuel cut still work.

Ramp-in time and Ramp-out time — fade the retard and the lambda target in on engage and back out on release. 0 is instant.

VIN lock

Each tune is bound to one vehicle through a fingerprint of its VIN, set automatically — it is not edited by hand. If the fingerprint does not match the car's VIN, the patch outputs stay neutral.

Flashing the patch

Adding or removing a patch requires a Full Flash. Changing the parameters afterwards is calibration only and goes out as a CAL Flash — see CAL Flash and Full Flash.
